Greg Williamson serves as the Correctional Assistant Sheriff overseeing the Custody Divison. Williamson started his career with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office (1997), when he was hired as a Correctional Officer. As a Correctional Officer, he worked all 3 of the jail facilities, served as a Custody Training Officer, Classification Officer, and was assigned to the policy and procedure writing team. In 2005, Williamson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as a Sergeant in the jail and as the Classification Unit Sergeant. In 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he managed the minimum security Honor Farm, Work Programs, Custody K-9 team, Jail Classification, and became the Custody Administrative Lieutenant. Williamson was next promoted to the rank of Captain in 2017, where he continued to manage the Custody Division. Later that year, Williamson was promoted to the rank of Assistant Sheriff, where he continues to oversee the operations and progress of the Custody Division. During his career, Williamson was awarded the Correctional Employee of the year from the Northern California Correctional Association (2009), received his Certified Jail Management Certificate from the American Jail Association (2013), and graduated from the National Jail Leadership Command Academy at Sam Houston University (2013). Prior to working at the Sheriff’s Office, Williamson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Long Beach State University (1995).
